How To Deal With A Worried or Unsupportive Spouse As An Entrepreneur ( Part 1 )

Hi,

Being an entrepreneur is hard – the relentless questions, the rocky penniless beginnings, the moments when you are almost tempted to abandon ship and hop on the speeding boat and speed off, the insane demands, and the occasional "we need to talk" moments. And I am not talking about just your clients. Maybe you married the wrong spouse when it comes to your business, vision or career and yes (it happens), but more often than not, it is a communication breakdown. If your spouse doesn’t support your business, if he or she is getting worried and thinking that you need a job now, here are five ways to get your relationship back in shape as inspired by Mike Michalowicz .

Have You Considered That Both Of You Might Have Different Life Goals ? – Sometimes the lack of spousal support for your business, vision or career masks other hidden unspoken issues. Maybe you have different values, expectations or life goals. Maybe You are the type that may be focused on making money and your spouse may be all about putting family first regardless of if the family is broke or not. Neither is wrong, of course, but whatever the case may be, communication is critical.

Solution: Have a sit down with your spouse and discuss your life priorities. Seek ways to support each other in achieving all the goals. That is a good way to start.

Two Ears, One Mouth – Someone once said there is a reason God gave us two ears and one mouth. . . we should listen twice as much as we speak. Even the bible says in James 1 verse 19 "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry," "Entrepreneurs are notorious for their bad listening skills. I used to be like that. If someone is giving me that negative vibe or not seeing the bigger picture like me, I used to not want to listen to it. Sometimes our spouse isn’t being unsupportive as much as they feel they aren’t being heard.

Solution: The advice here is easy, the execution is the hard part . . . just listen, for once. Listen Bruhhhh !!! ( In Kanye's voice lol)

Ask Yourself,  Am I Speaking The Right Language? – One of the most powerful books on relationship is Super Ways To Romance Your Lady . If you are a man, get this book, If you are a lady, get it for your man. Thank me later.

Solution: Chances are you just communicate your love for each other differently. Try something new and try doing it your partner's way.

Chances Are Your Partner Feels Out Of Balance, So Bring Back Balance – Building a new business often requires burning the midnight oil. But all that attention on the business, means zero attention for your spouse. Bring back balance by spending quality time with your spouse. A dinner out, hitting the gym together, chatting with friends or watching your favorite show together is just as important for you as it is your spouse. And because your are an entrepreneur, don’t expect this to happen spontaneously. Schedule it, just like you would a critical sales meeting.

Ask Them If They Will Like To Help, If You Give Them Responsibility  – Give your spouse simple (or challenging) tasks to do in the business. Make sure they are tasks that they enjoy doing and in an area where they can truly contribute. When you and your spouse are working toward the same goals in the same business, it can work wonders in bringing about understanding and support!

Try this tips and lets me know what happens.
